I’ve been waiting for a performance like that since Margaret Thatcher’s last outing at PMQs. Go Boris!
Archives for July 2019
He may not be to everyone’s taste (and he is probably a little too socially liberal for me), but nevertheless I am glad that Boris is now in charge.
For the first time since the referendum I feel optimistic about the future. At last we now have someone in charge who believes in the central task faced by the government ; someone who will at least make an effort to enact the clear wishes of the British people.
After three years of Theresa May’s uninspiring and incompetent administration, it is liberating to have Boris Johnson in charge. Whatever happens, it cannot possibly be worse than the national humiliation we have endured under May’s woeful ‘leadership’ (for want of a better word).
With his clear out of the May Cabinet, Johnson has got off to a strong start. He has shown ruthlessness, and clarity of purpose. His authority will never be greater than during his first hours and days in charge, and he has used that authority to good effect. In his choice of ministers and staff he has ensured that the government will be focused on the job of leaving the European Union. This is something which May never did.
All people of good will (which excludes, of course, the execrable Dominic Grieve) will wish him well.
